Hey Trailblazers! Can you believe it’s already 2026? I was scrolling through some old bookmarks the other day and stumbled upon a gem from way back in January 2024 — a Honkai: Star Rail leak that had the whole community buzzing. The leak, shared by the well-known dataminer Hiro420, revealed early character presets for four units tied to version 2.0: Boothill, Gallagher, Robin, and a mysterious unreleased character named Moze. At the time, we didn’t know much about them, but those default Light Cone and relic setups gave us a fascinating glimpse into HoYoverse’s design intentions. Looking back now that all these characters (yes, even Moze eventually) have released, it’s fun to see how accurate — or hilariously off — some of those early presets were.

The leak image (shown below) was one of those classic “grainy screenshot from a dev build” things, but the info was gold.

So, what exactly did those presets tell us? Let me break it down character by character.

Boothill – The Gunslinging Bounty Hunter

Boothill’s leaked preset had him wielding the 4-star Hunt Light Cone Only Silence Remains, which boosts ATK and CRIT Rate against enemies with low HP. His relic choices were Champion of Streetwise Boxing (which increases Physical DMG and ATK) and Rutilant Arena (which cranks up CRIT Rate and basic/skill damage). Right away, it was clear he was meant to be a hard-hitting single-target DPS who wanted to stack CRIT and ATK. Fast forward to his actual release in version 2.2, and guess what? That setup was absolutely solid for a budget build. Of course, players later discovered that his signature 5-star Light Cone The Unreachable Side elevated his damage to a whole new level, but for free-to-play folks, the leaked preset was a great starting point.

Gallagher – The Penny-Pinching Healer?!

Gallagher was a bit of a puzzle. His preset also used the Hunt Light Cone Only Silence Remains (which was weird for an Abundance character), but his relic sets were Passerby of Wandering Cloud (Outgoing Healing boost) and Penacony Land of Dreams (Break Effect and Energy). Back then, many of us thought, “Wait, a healer with a Hunt Light Cone? That must be a placeholder.” Turns out, Gallagher is a hybrid healer/DPS who scales partially with Break Effect and can dish out respectable damage. The Hunt Light Cone actually made some sense because it boosted his basic attack damage while his healing came from his traces. In hindsight, the preset hinted at his unique kit — a healer who doesn’t just heal but also contributes to toughness damage.

Here’s a look at the early Gallagher preview image that circulated alongside the leak:

Robin – The Idol Support Everyone Wanted

Robin’s preset was all about support. She came with the 4-star Harmony Light Cone Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds, which randomly buffs the team’s ATK or CRIT DMG each turn. Her relic sets weren’t clearly named in the leak, but the emphasis was on HP, Energy Regeneration Rate, ATK, and SPD — basically, a fast, tanky buffer who could keep the team alive and buffed. When she finally arrived in version 2.3, players quickly realized that the preset’s focus on survivability was spot-on because higher-difficulty content often one-shotted squishy supports. That early leak told us to stack HP and SPD, and it saved a lot of us from a world of pain.

Moze – The Enigmatic Lightning DPS

The most exciting part of the leak was Moze, a character that nobody had seen before. According to the preset, Moze used the 4-star Hunt Light Cone Swordplay (which stacks ATK when attacking consecutively) and the relic sets Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters (Lightning DMG bonus) and Inert Salsotto (Ultimate and follow-up DMG boost). This setup screamed “lightning Hunt DPS who wants to spam attacks and do massive ultimate damage.” The community went wild with speculation: would Moze be a 4-star or a 5-star? When would they release? It took almost a year, but Moze finally showed up as a 4-star Hunt character in version 3.1, and guess what? That leaked relic combo became the budget BiS for early builds! The only thing that changed was the Light Cone — most players ended up using Cruising in the Stellar Sea for the free CRIT rate.

To summarize the presets in a neat little table:

Character Light Cone Relic Set 1 Relic Set 2
Boothill Only Silence Remains Champion of Streetwise Boxing Rutilant Arena
Gallagher Only Silence Remains Passerby of Wandering Cloud Penacony Land of Dreams
Robin Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds Mixed HP/SPD pieces N/A
Moze Swordplay Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters Inert Salsotto

What We Learned from These Leaks

First off, leaks were (and still are) a double-edged sword. They give us a roadmap for prefarming relics and Light Cones, but they can also set false expectations. Back in early 2024, some people immediately started farming Only Silence Remains for Gallagher, only to later find that That’s Warm or Post-Op Conversation worked better for pure healing. Still, the general direction of the presets — like focusing on Break Effect for Gallagher or ATK/CRIT for Boothill — proved valuable.

As a day-one player, I love looking back at these old leaks because they remind me how far the game has come. Version 2.0 introduced Penacony, a ton of story, and characters that reshaped the meta. Those four presets were our first hint at the kinds of teams we’d be building. Now in 2026, with even more worlds and archetypes, it’s nostalgic to see how a grainy screenshot set the community’s theorycrafting on fire.

Just remember, Trailblazers: always take leaks with a grain of salt, but don’t be afraid to get excited! Happy relic farming (or should I say, reminiscing)!
